About The Whittaker’s Big Egg Hunt
This Easter, Kiwis can take part in The Whittaker’s Big Egg Hunt– the first event of its kind Down Under which showcases giant eggs designed by top New Zealand artists all in support of Starship.

New Zealand’s leading artists and designers have turned giant eggs into unique masterpieces. 100 eggs are hidden throughout Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch in historic, landmark and public spaces where you will be able to join the hunt and go into the draw to win the ultimate prize – a unique 340g 18ct Gold Whittaker’s Slab, which has been made by Partridge Jewellers.
The Whittaker’s Big Egg Hunt aims to raise funds for the Starship Foundation, a charity which supports the national children’s hospital to provide world-leading care for almost 120,000 patient visits each year.
Starship will also raise funds by auctioning off all 100 giant eggs – with 80 to be auctioned on Trade Me and the other 20 to be sold at a gala event in April.

Big Egg Hunt Worldwide

The Big Egg Hunt is the world’s BIGGEST egg hunt. It first came about in London in 2010 to engage in a fun and interactive way the while fundraising for charity. Since then The Big Egg Hunt has grown and next year it will be held in locations across the world, including London, Dublin, New York and New Zealand.

Missing egg
Message from Brad Clark, Chief Executive, Starship Foundation
Friday 28th March 2014
Unfortunately, the giant egg artwork created by Dean Proudfoot for The Whittaker’s Big Egg Hunt in support of Starship was stolen in the early hours of this morning. This comes after several other eggs from the hunt were vandalised last weekend and which are now undergoing repairs.
Although the majority of eggs are safe, undamaged and remain in the hunt, we are beyond disappointed that this theft will have a direct impact on our fundraising for the sick and injured children at Starship. All 100 eggs are being auctioned with proceeds going to the national children’s hospital.
In response to the criminal activities of the past week, we are working with NZ Police and security professionals, including trying to track down the Dean Proudfoot egg which was stolen from its Aotea Square location in Auckland. We have also moved a number of eggs to indoor locations and taken further precautions to protect the rest of our eggs.

後記:

原先據公告中說出這些巨蛋只有一百隻,但是如有留意到有一隻是用巧克力做,因此便成了獨一無異的「一零一」了
